Huge Heating & Cooling doesn’t just keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. We like to think of our HVAC technicians as protectors of the indoor air you breathe!

Now more than ever, as we find ourselves spending more time at home, having your system cleaned and checked can improve your indoor air quality and help control the risk of airborne infections and allergies. Huge’s pre-summer clean and check returns more than clean and safe air. Seasonal preventative maintenance reduces the cost of your utility bills, improves system performance and extends the life of your equipment. Our 12-point cooling clean and check service plan includes:

  • Checking thermostat operation
  • Cleaning outdoor coil (wash with hose)
  • Inspecting electrical wiring
  • Checking and recording refrigerant pressures
  • Checking and recording compressor volts and amps
  • Checking system for proper drainage
  • Checking filter
  • Visually inspecting indoor coil (if accessible)
  • Visually inspecting wiring
  • Checking and recording temperature in ducts
  • Inspecting blower and motor operation
  • Oiling motors as needed

If you neglect cleaning your HVAC system or ductwork, dust and dirt contaminants and allergens accumulate and circulate, compromising indoor air quality and decreasing system efficiency. For these reasons and more, an important focus of Huge’s 12-point clean and check service is on the filter and coils.

Air Conditioning Filters

If the filter is dirty or clogged, it can block normal airflow and increase your air conditioner’s energy usage by 5 to 15%. Also, if the filter is the wrong size or the wrong type, it can reduce your air conditioner’s filtration efficiency. A clean filter has another important job: it keeps your air conditioning coils functioning properly.

Indoor and Outdoor Air Conditioning Coils

The outdoor air conditioner coil (condenser coil) and the indoor air conditioner coil (evaporator coil) are critical parts to your HVAC system, and if they aren’t cleaned, they restrict normal airflow, which causes problems like reduced heat transfer, decreased cooling capacity, increased energy usage, increased wear on equipment, and buildup of ice on the coils, all which can negatively impact your comfort and air quality and decrease the life of your system.
